Another service program that will be offered as a week long course next year is a kind of free clinic. Students take blood, check blood type and blood sugar levels along with reading the blood pressure of patients. Afterwards, the results are reviewed with the patient by a local health professional. Students will be wilderness CPR certified by the end of this program. This day’s service ended with a visit to the family of a woman who was left completely immobilized after having life saving surgery to remove a cyst in her brain. The students donated 8,000 bat or $271 US to her husband, who had to quit his job in order to care for her. A few of the kids were left teary eyed.
